There was a [link http://www.ncsu.edu/news/press_releases/04_03/099.htm]new protocol[/link] designed at NC State that works better than standard TCP/IP.

Too bad it would take many years for a new protocol replace TCP/IP, even after one had been decided on. Just take a IPv6 as an example.
